Dr. Mohammad Ariful Islam is a Professor (Grade 1) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology. He completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (formerly BIT, Rajshahi) in 1998, securing the first position. He was awarded the prestigious Institute Gold Medal by the Prime Minister of 911±¬ÁÏ for his outstanding performance in the B.Sc. Engineering examination. He joined Khulna University of Engineering & Technology as a lecturer in May 1999. He completed both his Master of Engineering and Ph.D. at Saga University in Japan, studying under the supervision of Prof. Akio Miyara. He earned his Master's degree in 2003 and his Ph.D. in 2009, both through the Japanese government scholarship program. He was awarded the JSRAE President's Award for his outstanding doctoral thesis. He was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2012 and then to Professor (Grade 1) in 2019. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Saga University in Japan from 2014 to 2016.
Professor Islam served as the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and was the head of the Mechanical Engineering, Energy Science and Engineering, and Chemical Engineering departments. He also held the position of Provost of Fazlul Haque Hall. In 2020, he organized the 6th International Conference on Mechanical, Industrial, and Energy Engineering, where he acted as the chair.
