Hello, I am Tanmoy Mazumder, a faculty member in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET). I completed both my Bachelorβs (2020) and Masterβs (2024) degrees in Urban and Regional planning at KUET. My professional journey began as a GIS Expert in several companies from March 2020 to June 2022 and since July 2022, I have been serving as a faculty member in Urban and Regional planning at KUET.
Teaching has always been my passion, and over the years I have had the opportunity to introduce and conduct a variety of courses, including GIS and Remote Sensing, Disaster Science and Management, Fundamentals of Planning Process, Regional Development Planning, Site and Area Planning, and Computer Applications in Planning. My academic and research interests center around the intersection of geospatial technologies and urban planning. My research focuses on advancing Geospatial Planning and Modeling through the integration of GIS, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, and Geospatial AI to address complex urban, environmental, and societal challenges. I am particularly interested in developing spatially explicit approaches for environmental management, climate change adaptation, and sustainable urban planning. I also explore disaster risk assessment, resilience planning, and nature-based solutions, combining multi-source Earth observation data, social sensing, and data-driven analytics to support evidence-based decision-making. In addition, I work on spatial big data integration, machine learning for geospatial intelligence, and digital twin applications, aiming to bridge the gap between technology, policy, and community resilience in both local and global contexts.
Beyond my academic responsibilities, I am dedicated to expanding access to geospatial learning. I developed an online course titled ββ on the Bohubrihi platform under SHIKHO and established a website called "" to share learning resources with a wider audience. Outside teaching and research, I have a deep passion for drawing and have been actively involved in co-curricular activities since childhood. While drawing has always been my favorite hobby, I also enjoy fishing, playing cricket, chatting with friends and colleagues at tea stalls, and listening to music in my leisure time. At present, I serve as the moderator of two university clubs - Protiddhoni (Musical Association of KUET) and DISK (Design Integrated Society of KUET) - as well as the treasurer of the URP Association. Through these roles, I have gained valuable experience in organizing a wide range of academic and cultural programs.
I take pride in motivating students to take part in competitions and providing them with the necessary guidance and support to succeed. Looking ahead, I am committed to deepening my contributions to the field of urban and regional planning, fostering innovation within my department, and promoting sustainable and resilient planning practices that can address both local and global challenges. Thank you for visiting my website, and please feel free to reach out if you would like to connect or learn more about my work.
